CALL TO ORDER:
Chairman Robert Busch
at 3809 Legoe Bay Road, Lummi Island, WA. 98262 called the Regular Meeting for July
8, 2008 to order, at 7:00 p.m.
PRESENT:
In attendance were Commissioner Robert Busch, Commissioner Pete Cameron,
Commissioner Wendell Terry, Fire Chief Duncan McLane, and Board Secretary Tammi
Lynch.
GUEST:
None.
PUBLIC COMMENT:
None.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Minutes
for the May 13, 2008 Meeting were approved as corrected.
Minutes
for the June 10, 2008 Meeting were approved as submitted.
PAYROLL:
Motion: Commissioner Cameron made motion, “To
approve the payroll for July 2008 (June 2008 hours).” Seconded by Commissioner Terry, AND PASSED 3-0.
BLANKET VOUCHERS:
The Board of Commissioners, at 3809 Legoe Bay Road, Lummi Island, Wa. 98262, reviewed the regular Blanket vouchers approval documents for July 2008 expenses for approval of payments, on June 10, 2008 and approved. “Vouchers audited and certified by RCW 42.24.080, and those expenses, reimbursement claims certified as required by RCW 42.24.090, have been made available to the Board.”
Motion: Commissioner Cameron made motion, “To
approve the vouchers for July 2008, and approve for payment those vouchers
included in the list in the amount of $47,774.95” Motion seconded by
Commissioner Terry, AND PASSED 3-0.
FINANCIAL/SECRETARY
REPORTS:
Secretary Lynch
presented the budget year-to-date report.
The June Financial Reports have not been received from the courthouse
yet.
COMMUNICATIONS:
Enduris: Ballot for new director. No Vote.
Hilltop
Water Association: 2007 Water Report.
Letter
to American LaFrance: To Matt Donnell
in response to status of our equipment purchase. Chief McLane asked for the copy of the Performance Bond and the
Bankruptcy schedule listing the cure amount.
CHIEF’S REPORT: Attached.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
Hilltop
Reservoir: The Road is being
installed. Hilltop is waiting on piping
issues.
New
Ambulance: The Kodiak is 9 ˝ feet
tall. Ford and Chevrolet do not do 4x4
chassis. 4x4 is an after market
conversion only. The Cab Style Chassis
adds 20 inches. Currently, on the
ambulance we have now, we have an 80 inch box.
Bellingham Medic Units have a 100 inch box. It was decided to build for the future and go with the 100 inch
box. The new ambulance will have a
Chevy G4500 Chassis. Commissioner Busch
asked what the price difference would be between the 80 inch box and the 100
inch box.
NEW BUSINESS:
Heston
Hauling Contract: A contract was
presented to the Board of Commissioners to allow Heston Hauling the permission
to tow any unauthorized vehicles from the Fire Hall Property.
Motion: Commissioner Cameron made motion, “To sign
the contract with Heston Hauling so that they may tow unauthorized vehicles
from the Fire District’s property,” Motion seconded by Commissioner Terry, AND
PASSED 3-0.
RESOLUTIONS:
Resolution
2008-182: Resolution 2008-182 was
presented to the Board of Commissioners to approve the standard mileage
rate. The IRS has increased the mileage
rate from 50.5 cents per mile to 58.5 cents per mile.
Motion: Commissioner Cameron made motion, “To
approve Resolution 2008-182 increasing the mileage rate to 58.5 cents per
mile,” Motion seconded by Commissioner Terry, AND PASSED 3-0.
ANNOUNCEMENTS: None.

Motion: There being no other business to come
before the Board of Commissioners, Commissioner Cameron moved and Commissioner Terry
seconded, to adjourn the meeting, AND PASSED 3-0.
