CALL TO ORDER: Commissioner
Robert Busch at 3809 Legoe Bay Road, Lummi Island, WA. 98262 called the Regular
Meeting for May 12, 2009 to order, at 7:00 p.m.
PRESENT: In attendance were Commissioner Robert
Busch, Commissioner Pete Cameron, Commissioner Wendell Terry, Fire Chief Duncan
McLane, and Board Secretary Tammi Lynch.
GUEST: Ed Scott – Webmaster,
Larry Roteman - Firefighter
PUBLIC COMMENT: None.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Minutes for the Regular Board of Commissioners Meeting
on April 17, 2009 were approved as submitted by Chairman Robert Busch.
PAYROLL:
Motion:Commissioner Terry made motion, “To approve the
payroll for May 2009 (April 2009 hours).”
Seconded by Commissioner Cameron, AND PASSED 3-0.
BLANKET VOUCHERS:
The Board of Commissioners, at 3809 Legoe Bay Road, Lummi Island, Wa. 98262, reviewed the regular
Blanket vouchers approval documents for May 2009 expenses for approval of
payments, on May 12, 2009 and approved.
“Vouchers audited and certified by RCW 42.24.080, and those expenses,
reimbursement claims certified as required by RCW 42.24.090, have been made
available to the Board.”
Motion:Commissioner Cameron made motion, “To approve
the vouchers for May 2009, and approve for payment those vouchers included in
the list in the amount of $4229.88.” Motion seconded by Commissioner Terry, AND
PASSED 3-0.
FINANCIAL/SECRETARY REPORTS:
Board Secretary Lynch gave the Financial Reports for
April 2009.
COMMUNICATIONS:
State Auditor’s Office: Letter regarding our 2005-2007 Audit which was clean with no
findings or recommendations.
Enduris: Board
of Directors Elections.
WFCA: 2009
Management Excellence Award Nomination Request.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
Hilltop Reservoir:
No update.
New Ambulance:
Braun Northwest’s bid included a chassis purchased from Bud Clary. For a chassis purchased from Jerry Chambers,
it would be an additional $5376.00. The
difference between these two vendors is that Jerry Chambers is a Medium Duty
Chassis Dealer, whereas Bud Clary is not.
Bud Clary is located in Tacoma, Washington whereas Jerry Chambers is
located in Bellingham. Fire Chief
McLane recommended to the board to award the bid to Braun Northwest with the
chassis purchased at Jerry Chambers.
Motion:Commissioner Cameron made motion, “To award the
ambulance bid to Braun Northwest with the chassis purchased through Jerry
Chambers.” Motion seconded by Commissioner Terry, AND PASSED 3-0.
NEW BUSINESS: Tome
Article: The first week in June is the
filing period for elected officials to be on the ballot this fall. We will have two positions open, one that
Commissioner Terry is filling that needs to be ratified by the public, and the
one that Commissioner Cameron currently holds, but will not be running for
another term. It was asked if we should
put a notice in the Tome regarding these positions.
Motion:Commissioner Terry made motion, “To put an
article in the Tome regarding the Commissioner positions on the ballot this
fall.” Motion seconded by Commissioner Cameron, AND PASSED 3-0.
RESOLUTIONS: None.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
None.

Motion:There being no other business to come before
the Board of Commissioners, Commissioner Cameron moved and Commissioner Terry
seconded, to adjourn the meeting, AND PASSED 3-0.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:44 p.m.
