Fire District 11
volunteers have developed a broad based public education
program directed toward the department's mission. The
program consists of. fire station tours, community
events, displays and demonstrations. Most presentations
emphasize basic fire safety tips like EDITH and Stop
Drop Cover and Roll, and the ten common causes of fires
and injuries using the "NFPA Ten Tips" brochure.
Programs change depending on the age of the audience.
For seniors and Hispanics, we have appropriate
literature to communicate fire safety tips and escape
plans. Based on national data, we gear most of our
programs toward the youth.
